TRAGEDY: Petrol Tanker Fire Destroys Iyana Ipaja Market

A midnight inferno consumed a market in Iyana Ipapa area of Lagos State on Tuesday. The incident left several vehicles, shops around the market destroyed by the fire.

Aproko247 learnt from officials at the scene of the incident that a tanker loaded with fuel veered off the bridge at Iyana Ipaja and went up in flames immediately.

Several shops, houses and other properties around the area were totally burnt.

Our reporter spotted at the scene of the unfortunate incident some officials of the Nigeria Police, Lagos State Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA.

An official of the fire service, who spoke with Aproko247 on the condition of anonymity, explained that the accident occurred at about 12:40am on Tuesday.

No human casualty was confirmed to our reporter, but the fire has since been curtailed, while the area has been condoned off. The incident has left a traffic gridlock on the Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway, especially for those coming towards Abule Egba to Dopemu Under Bridge axis.
