A peace deal seems to have been finally brokered by the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, and the 19 lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state House of Assembly.

The two parties met on Monday in Ondo State for a meeting, and going by the outcome, they have finally agreed to let peace reign in Ekiti State.

Fayose and the legislators had been at loggerheads for six months now.

Trouble started immediately the governor was sworn-in in late 2014. The 19 lawmakers had attempted to frustrate his administration, but the remaining seven members stopped that and ousted the Speaker, Adewale Omirin.

The other members of the House quickly appointed another Speaker among themselves, who the governor later endorsed. This led to Omirin and his other 18 members to be forced out of the House and Ekiti State eventually.

But at the meeting held on Monday at the Sun View Hotel, Alagbaka, Akure, it was gathered that the parties agreed to sheath their swords.

The meeting, which lasted for some hours, was attended by Omirin and four APC lawmakers. Members of the State Executive Council were also present at the gathering.

However, non of the parties agreed to tell anxious reporters what transpired in the closed-door meeting. They promised to issue a statement later to inform the public on their resolutions.
