BREAKING: Jonathan Sacks Police Chief, Suleiman Abba

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has axed the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, with immediate effect. Jonathan took the action on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, in Abuja.

His spokesman, Reuben Abati, in a tweet on Tuesday afternoon, announced the removal of Abba as the Nigeria Police boss.

Abati further disclosed that a Deputy Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has been appointed to fill the vacant position in an acting capacity.

Abba became the 17th indigenous IGP and was appointed by Jonathan on August 1, 2014. He took over from MD Abubakar after he (Abubakar) completed his 35 years of service.

Abba, an indigene of Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State, holds degrees in History and Law. He is an alumnus of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.
