Sports Minister, Danagogo Attacks Kalabari Residents

Some inhabitants of Akuku Toru local government area of Rivers State have come under severe attacks from a band of vicious soldiers working for Nigeria’s Minister of Sports, Tammy Danagogo, a moment ago, the Rivers State Commissioner for Information, Ibim Semenitari, has alleged.

Semenitari, also the Director of Communications, Greater Together Campaign Organisation, claimed that this is an “exact repetition of his undemocratic acts last March 28 when he commissioned and supervised the harassment, intimidation and bloodying of All Progressives Congress, APC, members and prospective voters.

It was further alleged that Danagogo, a native of Abonnema, “has been moving from house-to-house since 9.00am, hounding and brutalising known APC members.”

“We consider this act an outright infringement on the people’s freedom of association and expression.

“We expected Danagogo to know better as a lawyer that his act is an offence punishable under the Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We hope he will boldly face justice after this period,” Semenitari said in a statement on Friday.

Semenitari advised Danagogo to be civil and conduct himself mannerly to allow voters in Akuku Toru, particularly in Abonnema, to vote according to their conscience unmolested and unfettered.

Meanwhile, a close associate of Danagogo told Aproko247 that the allegation made by Semenitari is not.

“She is working for her master, Rotimi Amaechi (the Rivers State Governor). The Minister is a peace loving man and never attacked anybody. It is all about politics,” Danagogo’s ally told our reporter.
