Tension As Nigerians Await Presidential Poll Result

There is anxiety in the air as many Nigerians, as well as the world await the announcement of the winner of the presidential election held over the weekend across the country.

The electoral umpire in the poll, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had promised to announce the winner of the election 48 hours after the poll, but Nigerians are yet to know who the winner of the poll is.

Chairman of INEC, Prof Attahiru Jega, addressing newsmen on Sunday in Abuja, said Nigerians would soon know the winner of the election.

But as at Monday afternoon, the Commission is yet to announce winner of the election.

This has continued to raise adrenalines. In Lagos, pupils of public and primary schools were sent back home to their parents.

Even some workers have been on the alert ahead of the announcement of the results by INEC.

As at the time of compiling this report, some residents of Lagos have continued to express fear over the delay in the process.

However, as at the time of filing this report, the INEC boss disclosed that only seven states have their results ready, which were already being made public by the Collating Officers of the states.
