President Goodluck Jonathan is scheduled to declare his intention to contest in the 2015 presidential election on Tuesday, November 11, 2014.

Some days ago, the President bought his expression of interest and nomination forms from the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, where he hopes to emerge as the party’s flag-bearer for the polls.

He will declare his ambition to re-run in the election at the Eagles Square in Abuja and bigwigs in the PDP are expected to grace the occasion. Already, plans have been perfected to ensure a hitch-free declaration.

Also, the security has been beefed-up in Abuja, especially around the Eagles Square, where the event will hold. Stern-looking security operatives are seen around the capital city and the police have issued a notice of diversion of vehicles around the venue for the occasion.

Emmanuel Ojukwu, the police spokesman, in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, disclosed that vehicular traffic would be diverted from most of the roads leading in and out of Eagle Square Central Business District, Abuja from 5am to 8pm on Tuesday.

Regretting any inconvenience the move might cause residents and motorists in the city, the Nigeria Police explained that, “This is one of the proactive security measures put in place to avoid break down of law and order in the area and Abuja at large.”
