Sudanese Diplomat Dies In Nigeria

The Sudan Ambassador to Nigeria, Tagelsir Ali, has died, Aproko247 has learnt. Ali’s death was confirmed by Sudanese Embassy in Abuja on Friday.

Ali died at the National Hospital in Abuja at about 1am on Friday. He was deployed to Nigeria in February 2012.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that the deceased, aged 66, had malaria and was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Mohammed Abdulrahman, the Media Advisor to the Sudanese embassy, informed NAN that Ali “had malaria; there were some complications and he passed away around 1 a.m. early this morning (Friday).

“There is a Presidential jet coming by 5 p.m. to take the remains to Sudan for burial.

“He was 66 years old. He loved working in Nigeria and had zeal to develop the bilateral relationship between Sudan and Nigeria and was able to stretch himself very well.”

Meanwhile, a condolence register has been opened for the deceased diplomat at the embassy.
