Fleeing Nigeria Soldiers Return From Cameroon

Authorities of the Nigerian Army have confirmed that its men who fled to Cameroon during a gun duel with members of the terrorists group, Boko Haram on Monday, have returned to the country.

The Army, embarrassed by media reports that the insurgents chased the Nigerian troops to Cameroon, claimed that military officers took a “tactical manoeuvre.”

On Tuesday, spokesman of the Defence Headquarters, Chris Olukolade, confirmed the return of the Nigerian troops from Cameroon and said they have been redeployed for another mission.

He disclosed that the “troops who returned from Cameroon were today (Tuesday) addressed by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Major General Zaruwa as they embarked on another mission in the Counter Terrorism campaign.”

The Defence image-maker had on Monday stated that the runaway soldiers were on their “way back to join their unit in Nigeria.”

It is believed that the Nigerian military officers are not equipped enough to match the terrorists, who have taken over few communities in Borno and Adamawa State, despite state of emergency declared on the two states.
