A Magistrate Court in Kano has remanded a young man in prison custody for allegedly putting his elder sister in a family way. The man, Shamsu Isa, 25, told the court on Thursday that the act was committed in error and pleaded guilty to the charges levelled against him.
“The allegation levelled against me is true. All that had been read against me, is true, it was a mistake, I mistakenly impregnated my elder sister,” Isa confessed to the court.
The accused was reported to the police in Takalmawa Quarters in Kano by the Ward Head. He was accused of committing Inbreeding, contrary to section 390 of the Penal Code Law.
His elder sister, identified as Na’ima, is said to be carrying her younger brother’s baby at the moment.
However, the prosecutor, Corporal Ibrahim Abdulrazak asked the court to adjourn the matter to enable the police conclude investigations into the case, which was granted by Senior Magistrate Ummi Sani Kurawa. The court fixed August 4 for the next mention.
