Lagos Lawmakers That May Contest In 2015 Elections

The 2015 general elections is around the corner and many of the lawmakers in the Lagos State House of Assembly are planning to go back to office.

All the 40 lawmakers in the State Assembly are from the All Progressive Congress, APC, and many people have said that it would not be business as usual since the platform is now wider unlike when it was only Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, since many parties came together to form the new party.

In this write-up, we bring you details of the lawmakers from the LSHA that are planning to seek re-election in 2015.

Musibau Kolawole Taiwo
The Deputy Speaker of the House has been in the Assembly since 1999, when the current democratic dispensation started. He was said to have planned to move to the House of Reps in 2011, but that he was told by the leaders of his party to go back to the House to become the Speaker. However, the arrangement did not work out and he had to be made the DS as Speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji went back to the House.
Kolawole is now regarded as the Metusellah of the House and there are indications that he would re-contest in 2015 and be made the Speaker as Speaker Ikuforiji has revealed that he would be moving on rather than going back into the House. Kolawole is representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency 1.

Ajibayo Adeyeye
The Majority Leader of the House is one lawmaker that has proven his mettle in the Assembly. He got to the House in 2007 and he has been able to carve a niche for himself. Adeyeye represents Kosofe Constituency 2 and his chances are high in the party primaries for the 2015 elections. It won’t be surprising if the party fields him at the polls.

Rasaq Balogun
He is the Chief Whip of the House. Rasak is from Surulere Constituency 2 got to the House in 2003. He has spent three terms in the House and those close to him said he might be seeking election for the fourth term.

Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa
Sources close to the Chairman of the House Committee on Budget said that he is planning to go back to the assembly for the fourth term in 2015. There are indications that he is planning to contest for the post of the Speaker of the House if he goes back into the House in 2015.
We gathered that the representative of Agege Constituency 1 has been making underground moves towards achieving his dream, though he has allegedly been denying this in some quarters.

Rotimi Lateef Abiru
Abiru is the Deputy Chief Whip of the House. As a second term lawmaker, Abiru has proven to be up to the task. There is no doubt that the representative of Shomolu Constituency 2 is seeking a third term in office, but sources said that he will contend with several forces to realise his third term ambition.

Abdulbaq Balogun
He is a young politician that is in the House for the first term. Hon. Balogun is representing Ajeromi Ifelodun Constituency 2 in the Assembly and he is one of the politicians, whose services would still be needed in the House. He is surely making plans to go back to the House in 2015.

Rahman Adebisi Yusuf
He is representing Alimosho Constituency 1 and he had served as a local government chairman before he got to the state Assembly in 2011 for the first time. The Chairman House Committee on Transportation, Commerce and Industry is one lawmaker that has done well since he got to the Assembly, according to sources.
Those close to him said that he is planning a second term and that his popularity is very high in his constituency as he has embarked on people-oriented programmes since he got to office. His opinions on issues are said to have helped the House on many occasions.

Omotayo Oduntan
She is one of the female lawmakers the House boasts of and she is there for the second term having been in the House from 1999 to 2003 before she got there again in 2011 from Alimosho Constituency 2.
It is certain that she would be seeking re-election in 2015, but the power to choose lies with her party.

Mufutau Egberongbe
Hon. Egberongbe is one of the lawmakers that have spent two terms in the Assembly. He has done much to earn a third term and there are indications that he would be staging a come-back into the Assembly in 2015 from his Apapa Constituency 1. He has been vocal on the issue of hazards pose by trailers and tank farms in Apapa area and he knows his onions, when it comes to lawmaking.

Olumuyiwa Jimoh
Jimoh is from Apapa Constituency 2 and his being an activist, even his views on issues give him out as a man with much activism in his blood. Jimoh is up and doing and his activities are enough to earn him a second term in office in 2015. He is well loved by his colleagues and there is no doubt that he would be given a second term by his party, APC.

Ibrahim Layode
He is from Badagry Constituency 1 and he has been in the House for two terms and indications are high that he would be going to the Assembly for the third term. Sources said that he has declared his ambition amongst his people and that he may likely be given the party ticket.

Hodewu Suru Avoseh
Avoseh got to the assembly in 2007 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and he was made the minority leader then. He later crossed to the then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) under which he contested in 2011. He is representing Badagry 2 in the Assembly and he has begun subtle moves to re-contest in 2015 for a third term in office.

Abiodun Tobun
Tobun is a first term lawmaker from Epe Constituency 1. He has been showing that he is up to the task since he got into the Assembly and he is the Chairman, House Committee on Environment. He contributes intelligently to debates and he is one of the lawmakers with high chances of wining the party’s ticket for a second term of office in 2015.

Segun Olulade
Since he got to the House in 2011, Olulade has been working tirelessly to register his presence. The representative of Epe Constituency 2 is the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Publicity, Security and Strategy.
Olulade’s activities are enough to earn him a second term of office and he is one of those that have contributed intelligently to debates on the floor of the House and he does his works as the spokesperson of the House with zeal.

Gbolahan Yishawu
The highly cerebral lawmaker is behind the law banning smoking in Lagos State as he sponsored the Bill, which shot him into the limelight. It is difficult to believe that Yishawu is in the House for the first term going by the way he contributes to discussions in the chamber. He is preparing to go back into the House for a second term if his party gives him the ticket. He sure deserves it.

Fatai Mojeed
The trained accountant-turned politician is from Ibeju-Lekki 1. He is quite unassuming, but he lends his voice to important matters in the House, when occasion demands. He is no doubt getting set to contest for second term in office.

Raheem Adewale Kazeem
Kazeem is from Ibeju-Lekki 2, but he appears not  to have made much impacts in the Assembly. That he would contest for a second term is not in doubt, but the rest power lies with the party.

Oludayo Fafunmi
The youthful lawmaker possesses qualities necessary for the office he occupies. The Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts (Local) is spending his second term in the Assembly. Fafunmi is popular in his Ifako/Ijaiye 1 Constituency as a man of the people and his impact is also being felt in the Assembly, where he has worked creditably to deserve another term in office in the 2015 elections. Sources said that his chances are high in this regard.

Ahmed Ipoola Omisore
Omisore happens to be the oldest politician in the Assembly and he has surely paid his dues as a lawmaker, who is there for the second term. His opinions are well respected as an elderly man and there is no doubt that he is seeking a third term in office. He is from Ifako/Ijaiye Constituency 2.

Sanai O. Agunbiade
As a trained lawyer, Agunbiade brings his knowledge and experiences to bear with the way he contributes to issues on the floor of the House. The representative of Ikorodu Constituency 1 is one of the stars of the House with much potentials. He is the Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary and Public Petitions. He is spending his second term in office and he is definitely getting set for third term of office in 2015.

Akinsola Adebimpe
Adebimpe is in the House for the first term. The lawmaker from Ikorodu Constituency 2 is a female lawmaker that has proven her mettle amongst her colleagues and she is preparing for second term if her party gives her ticket.

Wahab Alawiye-King
The Chairman, House Committee on Education is spending second term in office. He is one of those that have mastered the art of law making and he is making waves in the hallowed chamber and he is preparing to re-contest in 2015. He is from Lagos Island Constituency 1.

Hakeem Agboola Masha
Masha also got to the House in 2011 from Lagos Island Constituency 2. The young politician can never be neglected as he contributes to debates on the floor of the House excellently. Not only that, his empowerment programmes amongst his people are phenomenal. We heard that he is planning to re-contest in 2015.

Bashir Oloto
Bashir is in the House for the first time. He somehow causes people to laugh anytime he speaks. He is from a strong family in the state and we were told that despite the fact that he is not so active on the floor, his second term ticket is sure as he is close to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He is from Lagos Mainland 1.

Lanre Ogunyemi
Ogunyemi is from Ojo Constituency 2 and it is hard to believe that he is in the house for the first term. He is the Chairman, House Committee on Energy and he is on top of the game, while he is working hard to come out for second term.

Omowunmi Olatunji-Edet
Edet is from Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 2 and she has done much for her people since she got into the House in 2007. Sources said that her people love her so much and they would be happy if she makes it to the House for the third term in 2015. The rest lies with her party, APC.

Rotimi Emmanuel Olowo
Olowo is another active lawmaker, who got into the House in 2007. He is in-charge of the House Committee on Infrastructure and sources said that he deserves a third term based on what he has done for his people and his activities in the Assembly. He is also getting set to re-contest.

Kabir Olajide Lawal
Lawal is from Surulere Constituency 1, but it is not certain if he plans a third term. He got to the House in 2007 and sources revealed that he is likely to seek a third term of office.
