Police Extortion Galore In Lagos Despite IGP MD Abubakar's Ban

I wonder why some of our policemen are only interested in extorting commercial motorists, motorcyclists and tricyclists.

Just last Thursday, some of my colleagues were robbed in front of the Alkem Nigerian Limited, along Alaba-Express Bus-stop, Mile2 area.

One of them who luckily escaped ran to call some fierce looking and gun-wielding policemen mounting surveillance on the Mile 2 axis of the road, but to his chagrin, they turned deaf ears and turned the other way.

He cried blood for help, but got a scary stern look from the bribe-hungry policemen.

I am yet to come to terms with the fact that some policemen still extort motorists, despite IGP MD Abubakar’s ban on extortion on emerging the police boss.

For instance, at the Ottor-Wharf/Ajegunle link road, policemen extort N100 from danfo drivers every evening till around 10.00pm. What baffles me is that they give numbers from number one to infinity, depending on the number of buses that ply the route.

As for okada riders, the fee to ply the route is N300, no more, no less. Failure to comply, you are threatened to have your bike being deported to Alausa.

These days, the fear of Alausa is the beginning of wisdom for innocent okada riders!

This is the activities of some Ajeromi policemen, I don’t know of other divisions, posts and what have you.

If in doubt, ply the route tomorrow!

IG MD Abubakar, call your men to order, they are already biting more than what they can chew!

Please Re-BC untill it gets to the appropriate authorities. Together we can engender positive change in this country!
