The House of Representatives’ Minority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, has admitted that the protesters of the ‘BringBackOurGirls’ are actually members of Nigeria’s main opposition political party, All Progressives Congress, APC.

Gbajabiamila, reacting to statement credited to the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, last Wednesday that the protesters were members of APC, said “Maku, the Information Minister is damn right!”

The APC lawmaker from Lagos State, in a statement signed by his Research Aide, Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart, in Abuja, noted that Maku’s declaration is a tactical admittance of leadership failure. He also added that it shows that the Federal Government was losing confidence of many Nigerians it has failed to protect.

According to him, “I am particularly chuffed that the PDP government has finally woken up to smell the coffee and has admitted that APC is a movement and that 90 percent of Nigerians are APC because as far as I know that is the exact percentage of Nigerians that are criticizing government over the handling of the terror crisis.”

“Conscience is like an open wound and only the truth can heal it. Good job Mr Maku,” he added.

Gbajabiamila urged the FG to face reality in handling insecurity in the country.

On Monday, the police in Abuja banned all forms of protests relating to the kidnap of the over 200 schoolgirls in Borno State. Some days ago, the President, Goodluck Jonathan, had advised the demonstrators to take their protests to Boko Haram and not to him in Abuja.
