Edo, Sokoto Road Mishaps Claim 27 Lives

At least 27 persons died in two separate auto crashes in Edo and Sokoto States.

In the Sokoto incident, a J5 bus carrying some passengers from Jos to Illela crashed at Tudun-Dukiya village near Dogon Karfe in Sokoto State. The bus was involved in the accident with a Toyota Starlet car travelling from Illela to Sokoto. About 13 people died in the crash.

A similar incident also occurred in Edo State along the Benin-Okene highway, killing no fewer than 14 persons.

From what we gathered, the Edo road mishap happened around the Ewu slope in Esan Central local council of the state.

It was said that the brake of a truck failed and ran over a 15-seater Toyota Hiace bus coming in the opposite side, which killed the 13 passengers and the driver. The truck was believed to have been coming from Abuja.

Corpses from the two accidents were later moved to the mortuaries in the two states.
