Real Madrid Lifts 10th Champions League Trophy

Christiano Ronaldo sealed Real Madrid’s 4-1 win against arch city rivals, Atletico Madrid in the 2013/2014 season of the UEFA Champions League final played on Saturday night in Lisbon, Portugal.

The Diego Simone’s side took the lead 36 minutes into the match through Diego Godin’s header. However, Sergio Ramos levelled three minutes into injury time of the second half. Ramos’ header gave the ‘white’ side of the Spanish capital hopes that they could win the competition in extra time.

The first half of the extra produced chances for Real Madrid but they had to wait till five minutes into the second half of the extra time to gain the lead through Gareth Bale’s header.

Marcelo later scored through a shot in the 118th minute to give Real a 3-1 lead, until Christiano scored from the spot in the 120th minute to wrap up the game for the former 9th time champions of the UCL.

The Carlo Anceloti’s side has now won the title for a record 10 times. Real Madrid last won the Champions League trophy in 2002.
