Ex-Edo Speaker, 4 APC Lawmakers, Others Join PDP

Four members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Edo State House of Assembly have left the party for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The lawmakers tendered their defection letters on the floor of the House on Monday, alleging that a cabal in the state have hijacked the party.

The lawmakers; Patrick Osayimwen (Oredo East), Jude Ise Idehen (Ikpoba Okha), Momoh Abdulrazak (Etsako West 1), and Ogierhiakhi Friday (Orhionmwon 11) declared their allegiance for the new party.

Also joining the PDP with the four legislators were Osaretin Edosanwan, a former Speaker of Edo House of Assembly; Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a former Vice Chairman of defunct ACN in the South-South zone; Tony Omoaghe, ACN former state chairman; and his vice, Alhaji Usman Shagadi. Isaiah Osifoh, a former Chief of Staff to former Governor Oserheimen Osunbor also joined PDP from APC.

Speaking on Monday during the announcement of the defection, Ize-Iyamu, who spoke on behalf of others at Best Western Hotels, Benin City, explained that the action was a demonstration to those in authority in the state that ‘no man is God’.

‪He noted that the defectors were determined to ensure positive change in the lives of Edo people and true democracy where there was freedom of speech, equity, justice and fair play.
