NURTW Boss Vows To Install CCTVs In Lagos Parks

Chairman of Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Tajudeen Agbede, has promised to install Circuit Camera Televisions, CCTV, in motor parks in the state as part of the union’s effort to strengthen its security systems.

Agbede disclosed this on Thursday while reacting to the bomb explosion that killed over 15 people at Nyanya Motor Park in Abuja on Monday, April 14, 2014. The transport union boss further said that security officers would also be appointed for the parks.

“We have agreed to install Circuit Camera Televisions in every park in the state to ensure that we capture everything that is going on in our parks. We also agreed to appoint a Chief Security Officer in all units who will go for security training at a government appointed centre.

“We are also to ensure that we fence our parks with wiring and provide electricity to enhance security,” Agbede said.

“Already we have metal detectors, but we still need to do more to beef up security so as to prevent loss of lives and property in our motor parks,” he added.

Agbede noted that members of the union have been warned to comply with the directive, stressing that the government had threatened to take over any park that failed to comply.
