An Open Letter To Yadomah Bukar Mandara, Delegate At National Conference 2014 By Salisu Dango

Greetings.
Firstly, I could like to congratulate you my sister for being one of the conference delegates. I know, it will not and will never be easy. I don’t think my sister has ever been exposed to such an atmosphere of grace. Congratulations for that.

Secondly, I was opportune to have an eye-to-eye with you, that is around 2010 at University of Maiduguri’s science complex. Then, we talked and laughed and scheduled to meet again. At that short discussion we had together, I really understand something in you, which I termed as ‘Idealism’.

Moreover, being one of the people that follow your tweets, Facebook updates and your ‘My World of Reality’ blogspot, that gives me a confirmatory diagnosis that, your idealistic characteristics can not be measured.
Ideally, everyone who lives in Maiduguri (for how long I do) must know the Dujuma of Borno and the Sarkin Yakin Arewa-the Late Alhaji Bukar Mandara, a person of honour and dignity who does not tolerate any nonsense. This person is your father. I think, a gene of idealism has passed on to you from him.

“There is always another way…” as you have said. Really, there are many ways. Thanks for the Foundation you raised for vulnerable children and the war-turned-widows in Borno. Its part of the Idealisms I have said earlier, charity was one of your father’s favourite deeds until his demise. May He rest in peace. May Allah reward you with the high-class paradise, amin.

I am Sceptical about the ongoing National Conference in which you are a member. Take ‘National Political Reforms Conference Report’ 2005 (Obajanso’s 3rd term agenda) as the model, the report is still hanging in the server-space, non of the resolutions has been looked-into, talkless of adopting it as something good for Nigerians. I have a fear that, this one too may be GEJ’s agenda of dividing the nation or continuity of leadership bearing in mind that, the National Assembly has not yet approved even the N7 billion budgeted for the Conference. Do not forget the thousands of Committee Reports awaiting implementation at Presidential Office.

If I may not be termed as been eccentric, I could vividly say that, our country Nigeria has inflamed. The first injury that causes this inflammation was the type of demo(cracy) crazy we are practicing. The chemotaxins arround the inflamed injury are; religious crises, ethnicity, regionalization, power abuse, corruption at all levels and the funniest of them all is the lack of appropriate diagnostic measures, not talk of conducting a surgical removal of these agents (treaments).

Categorically, there are three (3) components of healing process to this Inflamed country, these are; Resolution, Repair and Regeneration-only these three components can lead to an excellent prognosis. If one of them is not followed, the prognosis may either be healed or not or virtually be grave (may not heal at all).

Yadomah, I wrote these words for you in good faith, I am sure that, none of the delegate members or what so ever someone may be, can change your inherited idealisms. Your resolutions must be heard, tell the conference that, this one (the #NationalConference 2014) must be different. Let them know that, this country must not be divided, regional/state police must be abandoned, corruption must be tackled, security must be the government’s priority, education must be free at all levels, health care facilities must be available, roads must be constructed, electricity must be provided, agriculture must be revived, and jobs must be created.

Tell them, the type of government (Presidential System) we are having now is ok, only necessary considerations must be given to Local Government Area Councils. Their elections must not be organised by state INECs, monthly allocation must come directly from the federation ( no joint accounts).

These resolutions will definitely be the beginning of the repair process of the injury we have and subsequently lead us to a newer or regenerated country called #NIGERIA.

Have a great Conference Sister #Yadomah. May you forgive my shortcomings. Thank you.
