A nine-month-old boy has been taken to court by police in Pakistan for allegedly assaulting security operatives during a violent protest in a Lahore slum in February 2014.

The boy, Musa Khan, was charged by the police with attempted murder along with his father and grandfather. The police said the family prevented some workers of a gas company from disconnecting the households’ gas supply after they failed to pay their bills. They were accused of throwing stones at the men.

The boy was brought to court and his fingerprint taken by a court official. The lad was screaming during court session until he was given a bottle of milk.

Musa’s lawyer has argued that children under the age of seven, under the Pakistani law, cannot be prosecuted.

Meanwhile, the judge in charge of the case has ordered the police to make an explanation for charges, while the Chief Minister of Panjab Province, Shahbaz Sharif, has directed an inquiry into the matter.
