Enugu Rangers and Nigeria winger Ejike Uzoenyi has returned to his country after he could not secure a contract at any club in the Premier Soccer League in South Africa.

Uzoenyi has been linked with SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns after he emerged as the Most Valuable Player at the 2014 African Nations Championship (Chan) in South Africa.

The former Enyimba man has told supersport.com that he is now back in Nigeria and will leave “negotiations with my manager to handle.”

“I’m back in Nigeria now after holding talks with a club in South Africa. Nothing has been agreed upon yet but my manager will continue to discuss with them,” Uzoenyi told supersport.com on Thursday but preferred to hold back the identity of the club he held talks with.

Reports emerged from South Africa this week claiming that Uzoenyi held talks with SuperSport United.

However, the interest from Matsatsantsa for the winger has been reportedly discontinued.

Also, details of the discussion between Uzoenyi’s representatives and the PSL club remain undisclosed.

Enugu Rangers spokesman Foster Chime confirmed to supersport.com that Uzoenyi has returned to Nigeria and is expected to join the club’s pre-season programme for the 2013/14 Glo Premier League season.

“He has called to say he’s back in the country and will report to the team’s camp. The team is currently in Nnewi, the ground of Gabros International camping. Right now we cannot make official comment on him until he returns and by then we would have discussed with him,” Chime explained.
