News report reaching us from Kano confirms that 26 lawmakers of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in the Kano State House of Assembly, have decamped to the All Progressives Congress, APC. The legislators joined the APC on Monday.
The move came barely 24 hours after former Nigeria’s Vice President, Atiku Abubakar formally defected from PDP to APC.
It was learnt by this magazine that the Speaker of the House, Gambo Sallau, and three other members were not present at the plenary on Monday when the 26 lawmakers decamped to APC.
The Kano State House of Assembly has 31 members. This latest development now gives the APC the control of the House.
