Manchester United manager, David Moyes, has maintained that he is unperturbed by the presence of Sir Alex Ferguson, his predecessor, at the club’s away matches. Moyes told journalists at a press conference after the Capital One Cup 2-1 defeat at Sunderland on Tuesday night.

Manchester United suffered its first three successive defeats since 2001, and Moyes insists the fortune of the club is about to change for good. He added that he’s not under any pressure seeing his fellow countryman watching the club’s matches at the stands.

Fergie, 71, was at the Directors’ Box at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday to watch the match with fellow club director, Sir Bobby Charlton and former captain and club ambassador, Bryan Robson.

Reacting to question as to whether he’s under pressure by Fergie’s presence, Moyes said, “not at all. I can only see Alex as a great sounding board for me, he’s there to help. So is Sir Bobby, he’s terrific. Bryan Robson is at the training ground regularly and I find the three of them terrific.”

He remarked that, “I’ve been here before and done it before and I just sense that it’s just on its verge of turning. We’re about to get a bit better.

“If you’re going to be in this job, you’ve got to win, the last few games I’ve not won, going through a difficult time, it’s part of football management. It’s never going to be an easy ride.”

Ferguson retired at the end of last season and chose Moyes as his successor. The former coach won 38 trophies with the club after joining in 1986. He also had a poor start, which lasted about four years.
