How Crisis-Ridden Diamond Bank Was Shut By Labour Union, Bank Turns Slave Den

The popular saying that thunder doesn’t strike twice in the same place does not seem to apply to the crisis which is rocking Diamond Bank presently. Because in the case of this bank, thunder can struck more than three times.

Weeks back, when Mi5 reported a fraud in the bank, which took place in Osogbo, Osun State, some people felt that it was a normal thing that happens in every financial institution. Then, we emphasized the need for customers to beware of the bank and some wise people called to confirm if the development was indeed true.

That story was again followed by another which called the attention of customers to a N.8 million internet fraud which took place in the bank with no reasonable explanation coming from them. For the victim, it was so bad that his children and wife basically suffered, as they had to beg for food to survive, all because of Diamond Bank.

The bad wind which has being blowing towards the bank continued only recently when the former head office of Diamond Bank located on Plot 1264, Adeola Hopewell Street, Victoria Island, Lagos was shut down by the Labour Union, due to the poor and inhumane treatment which the bank has being meting out to its employees, especially the contract staffs.

Interestingly, this is not the first time the bank’s office will be shut down by the Labour Union, an evidence of a consistent lackadaisical approach to affairs and welfare of their staffers.

Mi5 was informed that the working condition of the staffers in the bank which prides itself as the bank to do business with is very poor, as most of its contract personnel are not well treated. The source, who is a staff of the bank told our reporter that there is no good pay for these contract staffers and they are not entitled to goodies being given to staff of the bank.

It will be recalled that only last month, associate staffs such as drivers, office assistants and other low cadre of staffers were sacked without pay and this led to a protest of sort which threw the shameless management of the bank into a frenzy, as they were bent on making sure no media house got wind of the situation, many thanks to Channels Television whom broadcast it.

The scene of the recent lock down by the Labour Union was an eye sore, as passers-by wondered what was happening, with some after hearing the whole details wondering what sort of bank will refuse to pay its workers despite making huge profit.

It is indeed a shame that the heartless management of Diamond Bank will turn their backs at people who have dedicated their lives to the bank for over 16 and instead of paying them their deserved gratuity they are sent off their premises for not just reason despite the fact that the salary margin between these contract staffs who do the more tedious work in the organization is just chicken feed.

As it stands, most customers of Diamond Bank are warned to beware of a bank which would use people for several years and suddenly dump them, as these treated which is now synonymous with this bank is gradually finding its way to their customers too.

You will recall that we told you recently of how the bank and its staffs now tamper with customers accounts. The popular saying to be fore warned is to be fore armed seems the best advice presently.

Below is a cross section of reaction from a set of people who have been monitoring the whole situation and it exposes the true nature of the financial institution Diamond Bank.
