Some unknown gunmen have kidnapped the six-year-old son of a former Commissioner in Bayelsa State, Godknows Powell. Information available to us reveals that the boy was abducted in the early hours of New Year day along Etegwe road in Yenagoa, the state capital.
Powell was the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development during the regime of Timipre Sylva.
It was learnt that the Powell’s son was seized while returning from a church service at about 12:40am on Wednesday. He was allegedly taken by force away from his mother by the kidnappers.
Meanwhile, police in the area have launched a manhunt for the abductors. We are yet to confirm if the kidnappers have contacted the family for ransom.
